Excursion by boat to Lindos

(departure time: 09.00, arrival time: 17.00, departure/arrival point: Mandraki port)

Lindos is a beautiful village on the island. The village has been declared a monument and has managed to preserve most of its traditional colours and charm. One of the most outstanding features of the village of Lindos is its unique architecture. The houses and buildings are built of stone and the courtyards are often beautifully paved with pebble mosaic and surrounded by flowering bougainvillaea, geraniums and basil in huge amphorae! The narrow streets and alleyways are also lined with colourful flowers and plants, which add to the charm of the village.

The Acropolis of Lindos stands dominantly on a high cliff 116 metres above the sea like a sovereign platform, framed by massive castle walls. While the Acropolis of Lindos is home to the most important ancient buildings, there are fascinating ruins to be seen throughout the town and beyond. The remains of the goddess Athena Lindia, temples from the 4th century BC as well as the Propylaea, the huge Hellenistic Stoa and the Byzantine Church of St John are located on the top of the Lindos Acropolis.

Lindos is a labyrinth of small streets and alleyways, steps and more steps and some short steep and some longer climbs. Once at the top, the climb is worth it as you have a marvellous view and it’s worth looking around and reading the history of the site. To get an impression, click here
