Rhodes International Airport “Diagoras” is one of the four busiest airports in Greece. It is served by flights from Athens, Thessaloniki and other places, and in summer by flights from many European countries. The flight time from Athens to Rhodes is about 50 minutes.

Ferries to Rhodes

You can easily reach Rhodes by ferry from Athens (port of Piraeus), as there are connections about 4 to 5 times a week. However, the journey takes between 16 and 18 hours.

Apart from Athens, Rhodes is also connected to Kos, Patmos, Leros, Simi and other islands by ferries. There are also some ferries connecting Rhodes with Heraklion and Karpathos, almost 3 times a week.

Finally, you can also easily reach Rhodes from Marmaris in Turkey.

How to get from Diagoras Airport (RHO) to Rhodes Town

Public transport

The buses connecting the airport to Rhodes Town run several times a day and a single ticket costs €2.50. The bus stop is located approximately 300 metres to the left of door 1 of the terminal. The journey time to Rhodes Town is approximately 40 minutes.

Taxi

There are numerous taxis available directly at the airport exit, the route to the taxi rank is signposted. The journey to the city of Rhodes takes about 20 minutes.

The local taxi drivers at Rhodes Airport do not offer a flat rate for the journey to the city centre. Instead, you will be charged using a taximeter. The average price for this journey is ~€30-35 during the day and €38 at night.

Most taxis in Rhodes prefer cash payment; however, in most cases (but not all) it is possible to pay by card.

Conference Venue

The 16th GEORAMAN2024 conference will be held at the Department of Mediterranean Studies of the University of the Aegean in Rhodes, Greece.

The Department of Mediterranean Studies (DMS) is part of the School of Humanities of the University of the Aegean. It is housed in two large, renovated buildings near the Medieval Town of Rhodes and has classrooms, laboratories, libraries and faculty offices.
